Matt Greelinef is a 15 year veteran of the law enforcement community and has attained the rank of Sergeant. For the last 13 years Matt has been a K9 handler and trainer for his department and currently working his second K9.
Prior to Matt’s law enforcement career he trained horses and attended Blackhawk College in Kewanee, Illinois where he graduated with associates degree in Equestrian Science. Matt has always had a passion for working with animals whether it be a horse or dog, dating back to his early childhood.
As many of you know, law enforcement is very taxing mentally, physically and emotionally. With receiving this magnificent animal from Charlie Five, Matt will be able to work with this horse which in turn will relieve stress, anxiety associated with a career in law enforcement.
Matt is the brother of Jacob Greenlief, a recipient of a Charlie Five horse in 2019. Matt is listed as one of Jacob's mentors and has said that being able to help Jacob and witness his growth has given him the urge to find a horse himself. Talking to Matt about his career as a police officer was part of the reason Charlie Five decided to add First Responders to the group that may benefit from our program.
Marshall is a 6 year old registered American Quarter Horse gelding, named for General George C. Marshall. He was donated through Charlie Five by friends from Edgewood, New Mexico. They put a strong foundation on him and he is sound, gentle and has a really fun personality.
