Derek "Bibbs" Bibby served over 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. Over the course of ten years, Bibby deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan as a AV-8B Harrier Pilot as well as a Forward Air Controller on the ground. He wants to team rope but first wants to become a competent horseman.
Derek lives near Fort Worth with his Wife, Jennifer and their young son. In his free time, Derek soaks up as much time with his family as he can. They reside on over 20 acres and he looks forward to building a barn, getting some cows and building an arena. Derek wants to have horses for each of them and enjoy life on horseback together.
Aside from spending time horseback with his family, Derek is learning to team rope. As time allows, you'll find him roping the dummy and spending time with his mentor receiving lessons. Above all, Derek wants to become more proficient in his horsemanship.
Poncho was discovered by our dear friend, Bill Force of the Liberty and Loyalty Foundation. Poncho is a 15 year old registered American Quarter Horse gelding. He stands almost 16 hands tall, perfect for Derek's 6'3" frame. He is a well seasoned head horse and has enough life experience to be safe for Derek.
With financial support from The Liberty and Loyalty Foundation and the Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project, a saddle fitting and Pro Series saddle from NRS, a saddle pad from 5 Star Equine Products, a hat from American Hat Company, and the continued support of our friends at Old Mill and Day 6 Ranch, Derek is well on his way to a successful life with Poncho.
Thanks to Day 6 Ranch and NRS for taking care of Derek and Poncho
